Recently, INNOMOTICS (Tianjin) Drive Technology Co., Ltd. has launched the final pre-commissioning tests for its first locally manufactured high-power marine generator, marking the official localization of INNOMOTICS' marine generator production capacity in China and ending its previous reliance on deliveries imported from overseas factories.

Stepping into the workshop of INNOMOTICS (Tianjin) Drive Technology Co., Ltd., reporters saw a massive unit measuring 3.5 meters long, 2.8 meters high and 1.9 meters wide, with a weight of nearly 20 tonnes. This is the first marine generator built at INNOMOTICS' Tianjin plant. Rated at 4225 kVA, it supplies power for offshore work vessels such as cable-laying ships, cable burial vessels and trenching vessels.
Cao Wenliang, Project Manager of the company, stated that this series of marine generators achieves an efficiency of up to 98.5%, resolving a set of engineering challenges including heat dissipation, insulation, vibration control and electromagnetic compatibility under high-current conditions. "The second and third units will be fully assembled within roughly the next 10 days. We will invite classification societies, shipowners and clients to jointly witness the qualification testing. The first batch of six units is scheduled for delivery around the end of October."

Marine generators operate continuously in offshore environments and must withstand harsh operating conditions including heavy salt spray, intense vibration and shock, rolling and tilting, as well as drastic fluctuations in temperature and humidity. At present, the production of high-power marine generators is largely concentrated in Europe.

Driven by the booming global shipping industry and the shift of new ship orders toward the Asia-Pacific region, the INNOMOTICS Group built its new factory in Beichen Economic and Technological Development Zone, which was officially put into operation in June this year to capture this market opportunity.
Yu Tao, Manager of the Product Project Management & Quotation Center, commented: "The Tianjin plant features fully upgraded hardware to cater to the trend toward larger-capacity marine generators and marine electric motors. Its machining capability has also been enhanced. Furthermore, we have introduced advanced manufacturing know-how, state-of-the-art products and production lines from Europe. Backed by the supporting services in Beichen District, we are highly confident about the future of the Tianjin factory."
Localized production of marine generators at the Tianjin plant will substantially shorten lead times, optimize supply chain costs and boost product competitiveness. The enterprise has secured orders for 18 generators for three vessels. "Our order book now extends to April 2027, and the proportion of marine generator business will maintain steady growth," said Yu Tao.
